ONLINE EVENT LIBRARY: 16th Africa Scout Conference & 7th Africa Scout Youth Forum, Uganda 2015

In August 2015, Uganda Scouts Association with support from the Government of the Republic of Uganda successfully hosted the 16th Africa Scout Conference and the 7th Africa Scout Youth Forum.

The Africa Scout Conference is the governing organ of the Africa Scout Region. This where the member organizations consider the policy and standards of the Scout Movement in the region, formulate the general policy of the Africa Scout region and take the action required to further the purpose of the Movement. It also elects members of the Africa Scout Committee. The Conference takes place every three years.

The 16th Africa Scout Conference took place from 28th August to 1st September 2015 at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala, Uganda. A total of 170 delegates form 28 African NSOs and 12 non-African NSOs attended.

The Africa Scout Youth Forum takes place in conjunction with the Africa Scout Conference. The event provides an opportunity for youth members of Africa Scouting to discuss different issues and many participants are also delegates at the Africa Scout Conference. The aim of the Youth Forum is to provide a learning platform and to increase youth participation in decision-making processes at regional level..

The 7th Africa Scout Youth Forum was held from 24th to 28th August 2015 at Ggaba National Seminary in Kampala, Uganda. It was attended by 50 young people from 23 Countries from Africa Region, 1 from Arab Region and 2 from Eurasian region and 1 from European region.

The joint theme for both events was: "SCOUTING: Africa's Social Force for Youth Empowerment"

Other events that took place in the framework of the conference and youth forum were the Peace Dialogue Training for young people which was held on 25 - 26 August 2015 at Ggaba National Seminary and the Strategic Change Management Workshop for key NSO leaders which took place on 25-27 at Green Valley Hotel.
