Equipping of Scouts on emergency and disaster continues
As an initiative under the Messengers of Peace project, the Boy Scouts of the Philippines continues to equip Scouts in different parts of the country, training them what to do in times of emergency and disaster.
Two recent trainings were conducted. One was held at the coastal part of Lingayen, Pangasinan from 5-9 May 2015 with 40 participants, closely followed by another training in Tacloban City, Leyte on 7-11 May 2015 with 49 participants.
Highlight of the exercise were simulation related to disaster and emergency from simple to complex scenarios such as collapse structure search and rescue, vehicle extrication, sweep water rescue, basic life support, incident command system through the mass casualty incident scenario.
The series of training started on October 2014 and will continue in different cities and provinces across the Philippines. The project was funded by the World Scout Foundation, which was made possible during King Carl Gustaf visit in Manila in 2014.
