Sierra Leone Scouts Localize the U-Report Partnership with UNICEF
On Thursday 15th January 2015, leaders of Sierra Leone Scouts Association held a meeting with the UNICEF country representative, Mr. Shane O’Connor at his office in Freetown. The essence of the meeting was to discuss the rolling our of the U-Report initiative. This comes as a follow up to a global partnership agreement between WOSM and UNICEF signed in November 2014.
U-Report initiative is a free, mobile-based youth-driven social mobilization initiative that involves sending reports on social issues from the grassroots through a web platform to the attention of local, national and global leaders to initiate action.
Following the meeting, a Steering Committee comprising of a cross section of credible youth organizations including the Sierra Leone Scouts Association will be established to coordinate the process.
Mr. O’Connor encouraged as many people as possible to login and get started. He asked the Association to organize a meeting with the young people and invite him to make a statement in relation to the U-Report initiative.
