Bharat Scouts and Guides spearhead nationwide Messengers of Peace actions

The Bharat Scouts and Guides is holding State Messengers of Peace (MoP) Coordinators Gathering on 5-9 June 2017 in Himachal Pradesh, India. This gathering of leaders has been instrumental in promoting MoP; serving as platform in receiving feedback on success stories and strengthening knowledge and skills in implementing the program including Better World Format.

Celebrating the World Environment Day, participants together with the students planted 20 ashoka tree saplings highlighting the importance of environment protection and the role of young people especially the Scouts in this area. Part of session was sharing success stories on innovative projects that could be duplicated in other parts of the country. Activities such as providing water service at the railway station during summer; home hospitality for the blind; health and hygiene and literacy program were some of the examples which were presented.

A total of 24 Coordinators from 20 states across India are participating, supported by Project Leader Madhusudan Avala, Assistant Director BSG Aroop Sarkar, MoP Coordinator for Himachal Pradesh Pankaj Gupta and Joint SOC Spriha Kanwar. WSB/APR Director of Development Support S. Prassanna Shrivastava directed the gathering.
