Over 10,000 Scouts join Australia Jamboree 2016

On Sunday 3 January 2016, over 10,000 Scouts and leaders from around the world gathered at Cataract Scout Park as Scouts cheered the countdown to 7pm when two Melbourne Rovers and gang show veterans Mitch Groves and Ryan Leggett landed their helicopter and raced to the main arena to kick off the opening ceremony of the 24th Australian Jamboree.

Camp Chief Doug Menzies and Govenor of New South Wales, His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d), gave their speeches and challenged the Scouts to step outside their comfort zones, make new friends, try new things and, above all, have fun.

The celebration kicked off with an impressive fireworks display. For 10 days, Scouts enjoyed the adventure of finishing the dozen of activities like race, giant swing and water slides. It also featured the endurance events, talent shows, cooking classes and joy rides. One of the highlights among the activities was the wild and wacky water fun.
