Let's Swap: Contingent Badges!

When Scouts meet, swapping is usually on the agenda. Badges/patches, scarves, pins, t-shirts, belts, cultural items and even Scout uniforms are the popular items. The gathering of some 30 000 plus Scouts at the upcoming 23rd World Scout Jamboree in Japan will be no different.

Badges, undoubtedly, will be among the most eye-catching items due to their unique and colourful designs. Most contingents will have a custom-designed badge that combines elements of their country with those of the Jamboree and Japan.

While it is always fun to exchange badges, there are a few things that you should take into consideration before doing so:
- Exchange not only badges, but also friendship
- Exchange badges only with Scouts if you are Scout
- Exchange badges only with Adults if you are an adult such as IST and Unit leader
- Exchange badges on a fair basis of size, quantity and value

Thus far, quite a number of contingent badges are already being featured online. Here’s a preview.

These are but a few of the wide variety of contingent badges that will be making their way to the Jamboree this 28 July, so come prepared. Bring as many badges as you can – swap on fair basis of size, quantity and value. Don’t miss the opportunity, especially to build friendships and expand your circle of Scout friends!

Do you have a badge that you’d like to share with us? Upload it on scout.org with the #wsj2015 hashtag.
