Scouts drill boreholes for the community

Uganda - Uganda Scouts Association this year welcomed 17 Canadian Scouts (4 Leaders and 13 Rovers) from the 1st Wartford Scout Group from Toronto.

They came to Uganda under the church called Pentecostal Assemblies of God – they wanted to work with the Scouts in communities that lacked clean and safe water. Under their project name: WELLNESS 2013, these Scouts were joined by 6 rovers from Pearl Scouts Group - a Rover Scout Group from Kampala which, traveled with them to Migadde about 15KM off Kampala Bombo road where they drilled a borehole for the community using a drilling rig (machine).

Besides, this team also distributed scholastic materials to the nearby schools. Before the end of this year, another drilling rig/machine from the Canadian Scouts will be sent to Uganda to enable Uganda Scouts Association scale up this initiative.
Through Extension Scouting & Reaching Out programs, the Scouts will drill more boreholes to hard-to-reach communities that lack clean and safe water. Besides, they will use this opportunity to recruit the community into Scouting.
