Bookbridge - Building Bridges

In 2005, a group of European Scouts travelled to Mongolia. During a visit to a rural elementary school, the Scouts noticed that the children asked many questions in English and were very eager to learn. But the school‘s library was empty - no books were available for the more than 1,000 children. Wanting to contribute to the community, the Scouts started to collect English books upon returning home. In 2009, they returned to the village and set up a learning center with the books they had collected. This was the beginning of what is now Bookbridge - a social enterprise that sets up learning centres as social businesses in rural areas of developing countries.
World Scouting is a proud partner of Bookbridge. For more information about the organisation and how you can contribute, visit bookbridge.org
