Fiji President visits 1st MoP Local Coordinators Training Workshop

Fiji Scouts Association (FSA) successfully commenced its 1st Messengers of Peace Local Coordinators Training Workshop on 1st May at Trans International Hotel in Nadi, gathering 25 participants and 12 staff members to build an MoP network in the country. The workshop will run until the 5th of May.
 
Chief Scout and President of the Republic of Fiji Major General (Ret'd) Jioji Konusi Konrote visits the workshop today and is very excited to see the participation of volunteers all over the country. He shares his experiences on peace missions and encourages everyone to continue promoting the culture of teamwork.

Highlight of the visit was the donning of MoP scarf to the Chief Scout by APR Support Centre Regional Director J. Rizal C. Pangilinan, and assured him of the continuous support on capacity building for quality Scouting. Workshop Director Mr. Kailasih Pillay and Director for Development Support & Finance S. Prassanna Shrivastava briefed the Chief Scout about the workshop.

Minister of Youth and Sports Laisenia Bale Tuitubou also graced opening ceremony and lauded the engagement of young people in Scouting. Also in attendance were Chief Commissioner John Naisau and Commissioner for Special Needs Rusiate Nabou Tora.
 
Participants are mostly teachers and representatives from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Red Cross Society of Fiji and Rotaract Club. Part of their training are service hours uploading, peace games and story telling.
