Brazilian Scouts at Christ Redeemer - one of the new 7 wonders of the world

The night of June 30th until the morning of July 1st marked the beginning of the commemorations of the worldwide Centenary of the Scout Movement for the Scouts from Rio de Janeiro state.
Supported by Rio’s Archdiocese, IBAMA, Rio’s Military Police and Brazilian National Security Force, the special service involved about 150 Rover Scouts aged from 18 to 21 years old and was held at the famous Sanctuary of the Christ Redeemer, overlooking the Brazilian city.
The activity also allowed Scouts from Rio de Janeiro to come together and to encourage Scouts in all parts of the world to participate in the campaign for the election of the Sanctuary of the Christ Redeemer as one of the new 7 wonders of the world.
Since then, the results of the election were announced on Saturday 7th July, and this Brazilian landmark is now one of the official new 7 wonders of the world.
