The European Regions of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) are proud to announce that Switzerland has been selected to host Roverway 2028. Organised by the Mouvement Scout de Suisse (MSdS), this flagship European event will bring together thousands of young people aged 16 to 22 from across Europe and beyond for a transformative experience grounded in the core values of Scouting and Guiding.

Roverway 2028 will offer a dynamic and inclusive educational journey that begins with “Paths” — decentralised adventures hosted by local Scout and Guide groups — and culminates in a central camp uniting participants in a celebration of shared experiences, learning, and leadership. Switzerland’s proposal strongly focuses on youth participation, an inclusive and responsive programme approach, and a clear vision for sustainability and impact. The event will reflect the diversity and democratic values of Switzerland, a country with four national languages and a rich tradition of openness and community engagement.

The spirit of Roverway 2028 is encapsulated in its motto Battasendas, the Romansh word for Scouts and Guides. This unique and meaningful choice aims to bring participants together around a term that is both unfamiliar and unifying. More than a title, Battasendas evokes a sense of journey, friendship, growth, and connection—qualities that lie at the heart of the Scouting and Guiding experience. It also pays tribute to Switzerland’s cultural richness and commitment to inclusivity by elevating one of its lesser-known national languages.

With a focus on youth empowerment, diversity, and sustainability, Roverway 2028 will provide engaging, needs-based experiences designed to equip Rovers with the tools and confidence to shape the world around them. From addressing global challenges to exploring personal development, the programme will encourage young people to ask questions, form connections, and take the lead in building a more inclusive and resilient future. The event will be underpinned by a welcoming and supportive environment where every participant is seen, heard, and valued.

Following the successful editions in France (2016), the Netherlands (2018), and Norway (2024), Roverway 2028 promises to build on this legacy and take the event to new heights. MSdS brings a wealth of experience in inclusive programming, such as “Pfadi Trotz Allem” for young people with disabilities and “Pfasyl” for children in asylum centres, and is committed to creating a meaningful event that leaves a lasting impact on individuals and communities alike.

Further announcements, including dates, programme highlights, and the official visual identity of Roverway 2028, will be shared in the coming months. As the countdown begins, Scouts and Guides across Europe can start looking forward to an unforgettable journey into the heart of Switzerland, where Battasendas will come to life.
