Partnerships strengthening Scouting and creating lasting community impact
National Scout Organizations are building partnerships that are strengthening their ability to deliver quality Scouting while creating positive change in their communities. By working with businesses, public institutions, civil society organisations, and other National Scout Organisations, Scouting can combine its reach and experience in youth development with the knowledge, resources, and expertise of its partners to achieve greater impact.
Recent partnerships involving the Tanzania Scouts Association and the Mauritius Scout Association demonstrate how collaboration can create opportunities for young people, respond to community needs, and contribute to national and international development.
The Scout Association of Tanzania partners with local businesses to advance LPG safety nationwide
The Tanzania Scouts Association has entered a three-year partnership with Oryx Gas Tanzania to promote the safe use of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), support clean cooking, strengthen emergency preparedness, and create skills and economic opportunities for young people.
The partnership combines Oryx Gas Tanzania’s technical expertise with Scouting’s nationwide reach and trusted presence in communities. Together, they will bring practical safety education to schools and communities across Tanzania.
The initiative aims to:
- Reach more than 200 schools and 10,000 community members
- Train 500 Scouts in emergency preparedness and response
- Equip 300 young people with technical skills linked to apprenticeships and employment
- Nationwide distribution of an LPG Safety Handbook and training Scout educators to share essential safety information
The partnership shows how Scouting can support wider national priorities. By preparing young people to promote safety, adopt cleaner cooking practices, and develop practical skills, the initiative will contribute to a safer, cleaner, and more sustainable Tanzania.
It demonstrates that Scouting is not only a youth movement, but also a trusted partner for businesses, governments, and communities seeking meaningful and sustainable results.
Scouts of Mauritius and Türkiye strengthen international cooperation
The Mauritius Scout Association and the Scouting and Guiding Federation of Türkiye have also established a landmark partnership between two National Scout Organizations. The collaboration will strengthen Scouting in both countries while giving young people and adult volunteers more opportunities to learn, connect, and participate in international experiences.
Key areas of cooperation include:
- Youth exchanges and international experiences
- Adult training and leadership development
- Participation in national and international Scout events
- Joint programmes and activities
- Exchange of good practices in the Youth Programme and governance
By connecting Scouts and volunteers across borders, the partnership will promote cultural understanding, global citizenship, and shared learning. It also highlights the value of partnerships within the Scout Movement. National Scout Organisations can learn from one another, share effective approaches, and develop programmes that respond more closely to the needs of young people.
