Messengers of Peace

World Scouting has opened nominations for the Messengers of Peace Awards, its global youth awards and leadership programme, celebrating the outstanding achievements of young Scouts who are promoting peace and contributing to the sustainability of their communities.

Presented every two years, the awards recognise exceptional Scouts aged 16–26 who exemplify Scouting’s values of leadership, service, and global citizenship. Awardees will be selected across four categories - peace, environment and sustainability, health and wellbeing, and life skills - reflecting Scouting’s commitment to celebrate youth-led action towards the Sustainable Development Goals worldwide.

Nominations are open until 30 June 2026 for individuals or groups. Eligible nominees must be registered members of a National Scout Organization (NSO) and leading projects that are either active or completed within the past two years related to one or more of the award categories. Selected awardees will also be offered training opportunities focused on leadership development, communications, advocacy, and representing Scouting at various international events.

Since its creation in 2010, with generous support from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia via the World Scout Foundation, the Messengers of Peace initiative has inspired millions of Scouts to contribute to peace and sustainable development through individual and community service actions. Over the years, more than 110 individuals have received the Messengers of Peace Award for projects ranging from providing clean water to schools in South Sudan, to tackling gang violence in Colombia, to helping children and families displaced by war in Ukraine.

Since 2010, the Messengers of Peace initiative has empowered millions of Scouts to lead community-impact projects and contribute nearly 3 billion hours of service for peace and sustainability worldwide. Messengers of Peace is supported through the generous contributions and partnership with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which has committed USD 50 million through the World Scout Foundation over the next decade to expand Scouting’s global impact.

Please note that self-nominations will not be considered. Nominations do not require NSO authorisation or endorsement at this stage; however, successful awardees must receive their NSO's endorsement later in the selection process.
