Sri Lanka signs up for ‘Scout Build’ for landslide victims

As a way to celebrate BP day on 22 February, Sri Lanka Scout Association and Habitat for Humanity formally agreed to organize a Scout Build – a voluntary event to build homes for victims of landslides in Aranayake, Sri Lanka. This event will be held on 24-25 February 2017 with the participation of 150 Scouts.

The Scout Build aims to concretize the vision of Lord Baden-Powell for Scouts to provide global service and create a better world. It will unify Scouts across the country with one solid community service activity and is designed to contribute to the Messengers of Peace program of the World Organization of the Scout Movement and its goal of one billion community service hours by 2020 in support of the new Sustainable Development Goals.
