Scouting Spirit in sailing regatta

Sea Scouts Marc Dubos and Jacques Arnaud Seyrig are passionate about Scouting and the ocean. They met a Sea Scout camp organised by the French National Scout Association, Éclaireuses et Éclaireurs Unionistes de France, 35 years ago and are now longtime friends.

Early this month, the experienced sailors decided to embark on an exciting 20-day sailing race from France to Brazil. To them, the race was an invitation to go beyond their limits and embrace nature, in line with the Scouting spirit.

Naturally, their boat was named ‘Esprit Scout’, which means Scouting spirit. It sports the purple colour of World Scouting that symbolizes leadership and service, and the Scout emblem. With their neckerchiefs around their necks, the pair are sharing the values of Scouting with the people they meet during the race.
