Scouts share happiness with a pair of slippers

Making people happy does not have to be expensive. Most of the time, it only takes a sincere heart and a helping hand to see it happen.  

Children of indigenous communities living in far-flung areas and coastlines received a decent pair of slippers as part of a gift-giving activity under the Scout project “Piso Para sa Tsinelas”.  Scout group Bagacay Outfit 723 distributed 215 pairs of slippers to indigenous people (IP) composed of two separate tribes living in Sitio Bongcao in the province of Camarines Sur, Philippines.

After long hours of travel, the group arrived in the community, distributed the slippers, and introduced different games for the children.

Sitio Bongcao is an IP community located at the middle slope of Mt. Isarog, where there are 64 families headed by a chieftain and council of elders. Sitio Bongcao is an adopted community of Scout group Bagacay Outfit 723 in partnership with Eagle Scouts Association in Camarines Sur. 

For tribal children, slippers are more than enough to be grateful for, simple as it may appear.  For Scouts, giving a pair of slippers and spending time with other children is a way of sharing happiness.
