Blind Eagle Scout Triplets create BSA history
As teenagers, Leo, Nick and Steven were bullied in school for being different. Their lives took a turn for the better when Ollie Cantos, who is also blind, decided to take them under his wings when they were 10.
Having experienced the positive impact of Scouting first-hand, Mr Cantos didn’t think twice about signing them up and he’s glad that he did.
‘The way Scouting has impacted us, because they have more confidence in themselves, it teaches them leadership, and that is what Scouting is really all about. And that’s why in this environment, Leo, Nick and Steven thrived.’
Despite not being able to see, they took part in whitewater rafting, zip lining, archery, knot-tying, learning first aid skills and more. They’re proudest of their community service projects, through which they organised a blood donation drive and collected school supplies for children in need.
On 26 Oct, these inspirational young men became the first blind triplets to earn the highest ranking in the Boy Scouts of America. Watch the video to learn about their remarkable journey!
