Indonesia hosts the Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Committee and Sub-Committees orientation and meetings

“We are linked to one vision, we may have different plans but we are linked with the World Organization of the Scout Movement and we are one team.” These words were echoed by Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Committee Chairman Paul Parkinson during the Regional Scout Committee and Sub-Committees orientation and meetings from 8-12 April 2016 at Hotel Borobudur in Jakarta.

Chairman Parkinson thanked the participants for coming with the common purpose to help, work and do the business of the region, citing the 60 years of Scouting in the Asia-Pacific Region this year, coinciding with the 100 years of Cub Scouting in the world.

Both the Regional Scout Committee and Sub-committee members did exercises on PACT -- P stands for Purpose (why we do and what we do), A for Accountability (team & personal responsibility), C for Communication (Sharing information and Making Decisions) and T for Team culture (relations, collaboration, working together). Africa Region Scout Committee Chairman Dr Wayne Davis and Global Support Director David Berg also contributed substantial inputs to the orientation. World Scout Committee members Peter Blatch, Mari Nakano, WOSM Secretary General Scott Teare were also present and extended additional inputs.

Regional Scout Committee members had a courtesy call on the Indonesia’s Vice-President Jusuf Kalla on 8th April by Regional Scout Committee members.
