GONE HOME: Steve Kanene, National Executive Commissioner of The Scout Association of Malawi

The Africa Scout Region is saddened by the news of the untimely death of Mr. Steve Kanene, the National Executive Commissioner of The Scout Association of Malawi which occurred on Thursday, February 25, 2016 after a short illness. Until his demise, Steve served Scouting in Malawi for over 20 years.

"Those of us who knew him well, surely understand that he was friendly and outgoing and shared a great scout spirit. He was a very humble, jovial and committed Scouter," said Frederic Tutu Kama-Kama, the Africa Regional Director.

“A dark cloud has befallen us. We have lost our boss, our good friend, our mentor, our brother and our chief. It is so sad and hard to believe that he is gone,” said Howard Maujo, Project Coordinator at The Scout Association of Malawi.

“This is indeed very sad news. I have known Steve for many years and we in the Southern Africa Scout Zone will miss him. His friendliness and passion for Scouting will stay in our memories. May he rest in peace,” added
