Global Development Village planning kicks off in Stockolm

March 20 – 21, A Global Development Village (GDV) kick-off meeting was held in Stockholm, Sweden. Participants included members from the World Scout Jamboree planning teams, World Scout Bureau staff, Volunteers and consultants. During the 2 days that the participants met their aim as to initiate the planning for the Global Development Village, discuss themes, programme and brainstorm ideas that will develop into the renewed Global Development Village at the next World Scout Jamboree.

The GDV is a flagship event that occurs during World Scouting Jamborees and usually gathers World Scouting partners, UN agencies and NGO's that have had relationships with Scouting or are working in areas that Scouting is also interested in. During workshops and interactive sessions participants are exposed to global issues, taught skills and equipped with tools that can help them in taking action at a local level upon their return home. The current GDV planning team hopes to bring in innovative themes and ideas to engage and ensure that the up to 30'000 expected participants have a wholesome experience.
