"Sanad": Scouting’s Humanitarian Response in Palestine, Lebanon, and beyond

3 minutes

Service, leadership, and compassion have always been the foundations of Scouting. As humanitarian crises continue to impact millions of individuals and families across Palestine, Lebanon, and beyond, Scouts in the Arab Region are stepping up to provide critical relief to communities in need. From managing emergency shelters to distributing essential supplies, thousands of young volunteers are making a significant impact on the ground for those affected by the ongoing conflicts.

In response to the humanitarian crisis, the Arab Scout Region has launched the "Sanad": Scouts Humanitarian Response in Palestine, Lebanon, and beyond – a coordinated effort to support response and relief operations across the region.

National Scout Organisations and Scouts across the region in Palestine, Lebanon, Sudan, Syria, Yemen, Jordan, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, and the United Arab Emirates are already providing critical assistance, including food, water, shelter, medical supplies, and psychological support to displaced families and communities.

In Jordan, for example, Scouts are working alongside the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation to send containers of supplies, including tents, mattresses, clothing, and other essentials for displaced families. In Lebanon, more than 5,000 Scouts are on the ground, assisting families displaced by the conflict. Scouts in Libya are organising relief materials to ensure affected communities receive the support they need, while Scouts in Algeria and Tunisia are partnering with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to mobilise further aid. Local governments and UN agencies operating in these countries are also supporting the efforts of Scouts on the ground.

This donation appeal aims to raise funds to support crisis response and relief efforts across the Arab Region, specifically assisting National Scout Organisations in Palestine, Lebanon, Sudan, Yemen, and Syria to mobilise Scout volunteers to provide essential services and support to people and communities affected by the humanitarian crisis and conflict.

In Palestine, donations will support the Palestinian Scouts Association in managing emergency shelters and delivering essential healthcare to families displaced by conflict. In Lebanon, donations will enable Scouts to continue coordinating much-needed aid for over 1 million people forced to flee their homes due to the conflict. Additionally, in Sudan, Yemen, and Syria, financial contributions will be crucial in helping Scouts deliver life-saving services, including crisis management, healthcare, and psychological support to individuals and families.

Want to support our response and relief efforts? Here’s how you can help:

Donate: Every contribution, no matter how small, will directly support communities in need. Your donation will help provide essential supplies and prevent the spread of disease.

Partner: Collaborate with us to raise awareness, provide funds, and deliver technical assistance and training to National Scout Organisations.

Spread the word: Share the campaign with your friends, family, and networks. The more people who know, the greater our collective impact will be.

Advocate: Encourage local Scout groups to get involved. Together, we can amplify our efforts and reach even more people in need.

Join a global movement of solidarity and action. Together, we can ensure that Scouts have the vital resources and support they need to continue their life-saving work across the region and offer hope to those affected.
