Karachi Ticket to Life Scout troops turn one

Street children under the APR Ticket to Life (TTL) Project in Karachi, Pakistan went for a two-day camp at the Gulistan Scout site from 5th to 6th March 2011 to celebrate their one year anniversary.
Pakistan has four TTL Scout troops in Karachi in the districts of Malir, Korangi, Shah Faisal Colony and Bin Qasim.
In his remarks during the camp inauguration ceremony, Pakistan Boy Scouts Association National Secretary Capt. (R) Ali Yameen Qureshi, noted that through the TTL project, children who are deprived from receiving basic education are given learning opportunities through Scouting. He added that in doing Scouting, children can make their dreams a reality. Joining Qureshi was Prof. Aijaz Ahmed Farooqui, General Secretary of Arts, Council of Pakistan who was the Chief Guest.
Chief Commissioner Lt. Gen. (Rtd) Syed Parwez Shahid and Regional Director Abdullah Rasheed came at the closing ceremony to present Osama Abdul Hafeez Khan, one of the children from TTL troops, a sponsorship to attend the 22nd World Scout Jamboree in Sweden through the Operation One World. A group of dignitaries, key government officials and journalists, who made a wide coverage of the event, also came.
National Co-ordinator Prof. Anwar Ahmed Zai along with troop leaders Mr. Faiz Muhammad, Mr. Saghiruddin, Mr. Muhammad Sami and Mr. Muhammad Rasheed Khan are proud of the positive impact in the lives of the children and would like to see it happening in other parts of the country.
