Congratulations to Scouts of Namibia on its 100 Years Anniversary

25 February 2017, Windhoek - Namibia: On behalf of the Africa Scout Committee and the World Scout Bureau Africa Support Centre and all National Scouts Organizations in the Africa Region we wish to sincerely congratulate the Scouts of Namibia on the launch of its 100 years Anniversary of Scouting in Namibia.
The Region is grateful to His Excellency, President Dr. Hage G. Geingob for gracing the occasion of the launch of Scouts of Namibia’s centenary year; and for the support given to the Scout movement in the country.
We are pleased to note that since its establishment in 1917, Scouting has been contributing to nation-building endeavours in Namibia. With a current membership of 2,000 young people residing in 60 communities and villages across the country we believe the growth opportunity for Scouts of Namibia is still immensely great.
As a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, Scouts of Namibia has been an integral part of the worldwide brotherhood of service for the last 100 years. For this we thank the entire leadership of the Scouts of Namibia, both past and present, for their dedicated service in sustaining the movement and bringing Scouting’s educational programme to the young people of Namibia.
The Africa Scout Committee and the Africa Support Centre will continue to support and work with Scouts of Namibia (and indeed other NSOs) as they begin their journey into the new century of Scouting in Namibia. We wish them well as they celebrate the Sunrise, re-affirm the Scout Promise and renew their commitment to creating a better world.
