World Scouting’s very first film festival culminated in a colourful award ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, yesterday. Crowds cheered on as the spotlight shone on the winning filmmakers who were specially flown in for the event.

Organised to mark the 100th year of Rover Scouting, the festival is the first of its kind for young people aged between 18 and 26. Earlier in the year, they were invited to tell their Scout stories and show how they are helping to create a better world through Scouting.

Forty entries from around the world, comprising short films and social media videos, were submitted and evaluated by a panel of international experts as well as representatives from the Scout Movement. Out of these, 20 were featured at the award ceremony.

The three winners, who each received a trophy, a gift basket from the World Scout Shop, and a return flight ticket to Kuala Lumpur, were selected based on their outstanding storytelling and creativity, as well as the production value, impact, and Scouting representation of their entries. They are:

Jorge E. Caffaro from the Dominican Republic - It’s all about Scouting

Berny Jiménez from Costa Rica - ¡Pura Vida! and Always Ready!

Ondřej Stejskal from the Czech Republic - Global Compass

The winning entries and other featured films will be screened online at World Scouting’s official Facebook page from 3 to 6 November 2018.
