Malaysia to Welcome Messengers of Peace Heroes and Scout Ambassadors

There’s a hero in everyone just waiting to be inspired.

In their quest to fulfil the Scout Promise, and by experiencing life-changing Scouting activities, generations of Scouts have been inspired to take positive actions. In fact, some have gone beyond the call to serve and gone on to create a better world for their communities through highly impactful projects.

From empowering young girls with life skills, advocating against gender-based violence to developing leadership skills among young people, Scouts Messengers of Peace are leading the change they want to see in their communities.

To recognise their noble efforts and inspire more Scouts to follow in their footsteps, World Scouting embarks on a worldwide search for Messengers of Peace Scout (MoP) Heroes every year. And this year, they found ten!

Tomorrow, these Scout Heroes, nominated by the Scout Regions and their National Scout Organizations, will gather in Putrajaya, Malaysia, for the 2017 Messengers of Peace Heroes award ceremony.

Because good stories are worth sharing, these MoP Heroes and Scout Ambassadors will also participate in a capacity development workshop on 'Telling the story' and the Global Network of Scouting. During this workshop, they will gain skills in leadership, project management and communication skills such as public speaking and dealing with the media.

In the next few days, we will be posting updates on their activities as well as the awards ceremony. To find out more, follow them on Instagram and on Facebook.
