More than 2000 Scouts and leaders from 15 countries came together on June 6-9 for Intercamp 2025, hosted in Baumholder, Germany. Held under the theme “Changes,” this year’s edition honoured 75 years of American Scouting in Europe and offered participants a vibrant journey through the decades, celebrating international friendship, peace, and shared Scouting traditions.

Organised by the Transatlantic Council of Scouting America, Intercamp 2025 transformed the campground into a dynamic space of learning, laughter, and cultural exchange. Scouts participated in a programme that explored eight decades of history—from the post-war rebuilding of the 1950s to a future shaped by the values of sustainability and inclusion.

Throughout the weekend, Scouts engaged in two core programme elements: the in-camp activities and a scenic hike through the local landscape. Each decade-themed station offered unique hands-on experiences, from crafting, games, and storytelling to technology and problem-solving challenges. Offsite, the hiking routes—ranging from 13.9 to 21.2 kilometres—encouraged teamwork and bonding across nationalities.

Beyond the programme, Intercamp 2025 offered Scouts the chance to connect with each other on a personal level. The subcamp “connected” game challenged Scouts to complete tasks with peers from different countries, helping them forge cross-cultural friendships. Troops also took part in a vibrant potluck dinner, where they shared traditional dishes from home, followed by subcamp campfires full of songs, skits, and laughter.

The celebrations culminated in a festive camp party on Sunday evening and a moving closing ceremony on Monday morning. As the flags were lowered and goodbyes exchanged, participants left with more than badges and souvenirs—they carried home memories of a truly international Scouting experience.

Peter Grunau, Camp Director of Intercamp 2025, remarked in the event’s welcome message:

“Adventure, friendship, and memories — we wish everyone a weekend full of new discoveries and experiences that will last long after you’ve packed up your tents.”

As the Scouts return to their home countries, many are already looking forward to Intercamp 2026, which will take place in the Czech Republic, continuing this proud tradition of peace, learning, and international brotherhood through Scouting.
