Getting to the Scout Congress

5 minutos

We all have to get to the Congress somehow, so check this out!

By plane

The largest airports close to Kandersteg are in Geneva and Zürich. They connect Switzerland with airports around the world and are the simplest way of entering the country. Basel Euroairport is smaller, but has cheap connections and is also closer to Kandersteg. As Kandersteg is near the Italian border, another option is to fly into Milano.

By train

Kandersteg is located about 60 km south of Bern, in the Bernese alps. An excellent network of fast, clean and efficient trains connect Kandersteg to many international airports and border stations.
Getting from the Swiss airports is easy. Just hop on a direct train to Bern, then from Bern take the Lötschberg Express towards Brig or Domodossola, stopping in Kandersteg. If flying into Milano, take a direct train from Milano Centrale to Brig or Domodossola, then change to the Lötschberg Express towards Bern, stopping in Kandersteg. For more information about time tables and ticket options, visit Switzerland’s public transport site, available in English, German, French and Italian.
Switzerland Travel Centre offers discounted train tickets for scouts. They are valid from any Swiss airport or border station to KISC and return. They must be ordered in advance. Check out the STC website for more information. STC also sells the Berner Oberland pass, which includes 3 or 4 days of travelling in the Bernese alps, and is ideal if you want to stay for some sightseeing.

For inhabitants of Europe, Interrail and Eurail are also options.

By car

Travelling to KISC by car is easy. When coming from the north, the European Motorway network will bring you to Spiez. From there, drive south into the Kandertal valley by route 223. A 30 minute drive along a well-signposted road will take you to Kandersteg. When coming from the south, drive to Brig, then onwards to Goppenstein. Here you will have to drive onto a car train, which takes you through the Lötschberg tunnel, bringing you all the way to Kandersteg.

When using GPS, use the following address or coordinates:

Wagetiweg 7, 3718 Kandersteg, Switzerland
46º 28.981 N 07 º39.858 E

We have limited parking spaces available on our grounds. In especially busy periods, we may redirect you to an overflow parking area, approximately10 minutes’ walk from the Centre.

Getting between the village and the Scout Centre

KISC is situated at the southern end of the Kandersteg village. During weekdays, an hourly bus drives between the train station and the Scout Centre, and it is free of charge for anyone wearing a scout neckerchief. You could also walk for about 25 minutes, following bright blue signposts bearing the KISC crystal.
