Downing Street's Scout adventure

Throughout the last 100 years Scouting has been running in unusual places but last week it went right to the top, as Britain's most famous street was turned into a Scout adventure centre.

One hundred Scouts were invited to Downing Street by the British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, for a day of games, challenges and fun to celebrate Scouting's Centenary. Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts arrived at Downing Street to bring the essence of Scouting to the heart of the city.

Scouts showed their skills to the Prime Minister in events including tent building, trampolining, painting, bike stunts, an inflatable slide and a climbing challenge. They also were pleased to take a break to roast marshmallows, with a little help from the PM.

Following the activities, the Scouts were able to see inside Number 10 when Tony Blair invited everyone in for lunch. The day proved to be a success, as the young people were brought together to see a unique and historic place, whilst showing the adventure, challenges and skills that Scouting has given to them.
