Astronauts encounter Scouts

Tokyo-Monday, September 13 2010, Scouts and Scout leaders from the Scout Association of Japan (SAJ) were invited to an event, welcoming astronauts who spent time at the International Space Station (ISS). The Tokyo American Center located at the American embassy in Akasaka in collaboration with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) co-hosted this event.

The Scout Association of Japan (SAJ) was invited to take part in this event, together with families from the American embassy, the Young Aeronauts Club-Japan and Museum Club members. 118 Scouts and Scout leaders from Chiba, Tokyo and Kanagawa council were in attendance.

5 astronauts; Soichi Noguchi from Japan a Scout in his Childhood and an active Scout Leader was one of the invitees along with: Jefferey Williams and Timothy Creamer from the USA, Oleg Kotov and Maxim Suraev from Russia were invited to explain about life and activities on the Space station. They showed films and answered questions from the eager attendees.
