Today, WOSM and the World Scout Foundation are thrilled to announce the launch of a brand new Scout Donation Platform as a dedicated space for Scouts to fundraise for community improvement projects in the areas of environment, peace, health, life skills and Scouting.
Supporting community development and humanitarian response
As young leaders and changemakers, Scouts around the world are always looking to learn, innovate, inspire and take action for their communities. They are great at identifying challenges and coming up with impactful solutions that can create a better world for us all. That’s why we are committed to empowering Scouts with the tools and technology they need to fundraise and bring their ideas to life.
Since 2017, the Scout Donation Platform has served as the go-to place for Scouts to fundraise for their community service projects. By crowdfunding over USD 1.2 million towards more than 100 community projects, Scouts have turned ideas into real impact across the world.
Whether they are building sustainable community gardens that feed those in need, or making cities more accessible, or setting up support groups to empower young people in distress, we have seen the transformative projects Scouts are leading. Young people with great ideas for community projects can now submit them through the platform, and fundraise as soon as your project is approved.
In addition to supporting community projects, the Scout Donation Platform has also supported National Scout Organizations (NSOs) to raise funds for large-scale humanitarian response and relief efforts, such as floods, earthquakes, and conflict situations. This will continue to be the go-to platform for emergency fundraising led by National Scout Organizations when disasters or humanitarian crises happen.
The Scout Donation Platform is also the place where people can make a one-time or recurring donation directly to the World Scout Foundation, helping to make Scouting more accessible to more young people around the world.
How to Crowdfund for Projects
Scouts can learn how to start, share and fundraise for their project with tips and resources that will guide them along the way.
1. Set a goal
Log in to the platform (using your scout.org login) and create a project. Share a compelling story alongside pictures and videos.
2. Promote the project
Share the project with your Scout Group, friends and family. Promote it online, at events and with local media.
3. Get funded
Start receiving donations and continue promoting the project and encouraging donors until you reach your goal!
