Volunteering is very much part of Scouting.

For this year, out of the 107 photographs submitted by 10 National Scout Organizations, Mr Arvind Danapalan from Malaysia bagged the gold prize.

Mr Sarwar Shahriar of Bangladesh and Mr Nino Christopher Cardenas of Philippines won the silver prize while photos of Mr Min-HA JOO, Korea; Megan Donoghue, Australia and Nino Christopher Cardenas, Philippines won the bronze prize award.

Winners will receive plaques and their entries will be featured in major regional publications such as the annual calendars and posters.

To capture the spirit of volunteering in images, volunteering becomes the theme of this year's 9th Asia-Pacific Region Scout Photo Contest which is aligned to International Year of Volunteering (IYV+10) also being celebrated this 2011.

Through this regional photo contest, spirit of volunteering is showcased, raising its profile that will mobilize more volunteers. Seeing volunteerism in photos remind everyone of the gift of time, spirit, commitment and enthusiasm that Scouts in all ages around the world devote to Scouting.

The regional photo contest, now on its 9th year, is created to contribute to the visibility of Scouting through the collection of excellent pictures of Scouts in action, reflecting the values of Scouting, and to help improve the skills of Scouts and Leaders in photography.
