Centenary thank you!

A massive thank you to everyone who worked to make the Centenary of Scouting such a success. Thank you to all the volunteers who gave their time to run activities and programmes for Scouts worldwide. Thank you to our supporters and all of you who worked with us to enrich our initiatives. Thank you to those who contributed stories to 'Centenary News' and who shared their programmes, ideas, stories and photos with us.

We hope that you have enjoyed this very special year of Scouting, and that you are full of ideas for 2008. The challenge is to now build on what we have achieved and what we have learned for the future.

The Gifts for Peace projects show us just how much we can achieve when we work together. Collectively, these projects represent a truly unique contribution to society on the occasion of our 100th anniversary. Thank you to the leaders and Scouts who have run these projects, and, through them, made a difference to the lives of others.

There have been spectacular events throughout the year including: the Cederberg Adventure and Mafeking Moot in South Africa, the Australian National Jamboree, Sudan Centenary celebrations in Khartoum, the creation of a fleur-de-lys in the centre of Mexico City using over 1.6 million aluminium cans, the Asia-Pacific peace relay, Swiss igloo village near Crans-Montana, JamBE in Belgium, the Korean Agonoree, the Amahoro project and gathering in the Great Lakes Region of Africa, the 'Mocca' Centenary camp in Luxembourg, a 100 hour walk in Mauritius, the East-Africa Peace Caravan through Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya, the 'Jamboree-on-the-train' in Bangladesh, the Peace Caravan from Paris to Dakar, the expedition to the top of the Baden-Powell Scout Peak in Nepal, and of course the 21st World Scout Jamboree in the United Kingdom and World Scientific Congress in Geneva, Switzerland.

Scouting's Sunrise was also an incredible global celebration. The photos and stories from this day really speak for themselves, and show how Scouting is modern, colourful, passionate, exciting and adventurous.

We'd like to end this series of 'Centenary news' stories with a collection of photos of our Centenary, taken by Scouts from every corner of the globe. 100 years old? No, more like 100 years new!
