Scouts support the National Reconciliation in Libya

Libyan Scouts played a very efficient national role during the recent revolution events, where it relieved wounded and provided many community services to the people including provision of food, bread reaching to the digging of graves to bury the martyrs.

With the end of revolution and returning to build up the country, the scout leaders found an importance to hold a national meeting for leaders (males & females) and the Libyan pioneers of the movement in order to send the spirit of national reconciliation, unity and national cohesion as the country starts a new era of freedom.

The named gathering succeeded in gathering about 650 National leaders representing 22 Libyan governorates during the period 5-10/10/2012 in the Training Center for Scouts & Girl Guides (Godayem), Tripoli – the capital of Libya. The participants represented all scout sections, as well as the commissioners of community development, media, finance, strategic planning and the executive commissioners.

The program of the gathering scheduled number of important topics including: the national reconciliation and its importance, the concept of citizenship, regulations in force, and quality in scouting, communications and the development of relations, problem-solving and decision-making, crisis management. Other relevant scout topics were scheduled including functions of the Executive Commissioner, containment and engagement, documentary course, the profile of the Scout Movement, planning and management the project, resource development.

A very special and distinguished opening ceremony for the event was witnessed bringing back the spirit of the scout movement to the minds of the attendees. The ceremony was attended by number of key persons including the Minister of Youth and Sports and Minister of martyrs, Chairman of the Regional Arab Committee, Arab Scout Regional Director, the executive regional directors and the President and members of Libyan scout Movement.

In the closing & the National Day ceremony, all the participants emphasized on their adherence to the spirit of Scouting and its traditions, trying to invest them in the unity of the homeland and its development.

It was planned that two gatherings for Girl Guides leaders and the pioneers of the scout movement in Libya will be organized following to the named gathering
