In a country where social cohesion, inclusion and peaceful coexistence remain essential to building a stable and united society, the Scoutisme Congolais are taking concrete action to nurture a new generation of peacebuilders within schools.

Through the Culture of Peace in Schools project, trained Messengers of Peace ambassadors are bringing peace education directly into classrooms, empowering children and adolescents to become agents of positive change in their schools and communities.

Since June 2026, the ambassadors have conducted awareness-raising activities in nine schools, establishing peace clubs that provide safe and inclusive spaces for young people to learn about non-violence, mutual respect, dialogue, tolerance and peaceful conflict resolution. These clubs also seek to challenge discrimination, strengthen social cohesion and promote understanding across social and cultural differences.

From 3 to 4 October 2025, the Peace Ambassadors gathered for another forum in Brazzaville to strengthen their peacebuilding knowledge and prepare for further outreach activities in schools. The Forum provided an opportunity to share experiences, explore challenges to peace, and identify practical solutions to promote peaceful coexistence. Through discussions and reflection, participants explored how their everyday attitudes and actions can help build safer, more respectful, and inclusive schools and communities.

Schools play a critical role in shaping young people’s values, attitudes, and behaviours. Beyond academic learning, they provide opportunities for students to develop respect, empathy, and understanding of others. By promoting a culture of peace in classrooms, young people can learn to resolve conflicts peacefully, embrace diversity, and reject violence and discrimination, becoming positive agents of change in their schools and communities.

The initiative has been made possible through the generous support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in partnership with World Scouting, under the Messengers of Peace Fund
