From 12 to 14 February 2026, Nairobi, Kenya, hosted the 3rd Africa Scout Academy, bringing together twenty-nine leaders from National Scout Organisations across the continent. Organised by the Africa Scout Region and supported by the Messengers of Peace (MoP) Fund, the Academy focused on strengthening competencies in Youth Programme innovation, resource mobilisation, and asset management.

Designed as a practical and collaborative learning experience, the Academy equipped participants with tools to enhance Youth Programme delivery using the Guide to Youth Programme in Scouting (GPS) and to advance Scouts for SDGs initiatives. At the same time, it strengthened their capacity to transform campsites and Scout centres into sustainable hubs through effective resource mobilisation and sound financial management.

Interactive learning formats enriched the experience. Exposure to the SDGs Academy for Children, an interconnected hub that guides learners in identifying challenges and designing sustainable solutions, offered practical insights into youth-led development.
The SDGs Hub broadened my understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals. When I return home, I will integrate this knowledge into our youth programme to ensure it aligns with the global development agenda, making it more innovative and responsive to the needs of young people

Visits to the Scout Shop and Rowallan Camp further deepened understanding of sustainability in practice. Participants explored how facilities can be managed efficiently while generating resources to support Scouting’s mission.

Throughout the Academy, storytelling emerged as a powerful tool, essential for demonstrating impact, inspiring partnerships, and mobilising support. Participants strengthened their ability to communicate the value of Scouting and the transformative power of youth-led initiatives.
