World Scouting and Malaysian Government renew strategic partnership

World Scouting and the Government of Malaysia’s Ministry of Education reaffirmed their long-standing partnership today with a ceremony hosted at the global headquarters, marking more than a decade of collaboration focused on a commitment to youth development, education, and global citizenship.

The event, which included a signing of the host country agreement, was attended by Yang Berhormat Fadhlina Sidek, Minister of Education, David Berg, Secretary General of World Scouting, senior representatives of the Ministry of Education, as well as Dato Mohd Zin Bidin, National Chief Scout, and Norma Noordin, International Commissioner representing the leadership of Persekutuan Pengakap Malaysia, the National Scout Organization of Malaysia.

“Today’s ceremony reaffirms the strong relationship between World Scouting and the Government of Malaysia, a partnership that has grown and flourished since we first established our global headquarters here more than a decade ago. Our partnership reflects a shared commitment to empowering young people and advancing opportunities for education, leadership, and community service,” said Secretary General David Berg.

Since establishing its global headquarters in Kuala Lumpur in 2014, World Scouting has delivered services and support to engage more than 60 million Scouts across 176 National Scout Organizations by providing funding, strengthening their capacity, and hosting major regional and international events.

Looking ahead, the Ministry of Education and World Scouting expressed continued interest and commitment to expand collaboration through joint initiatives, together with Persekutuan Pengakap Malaysia, and to deepen the relationship over the next ten years. A major focus will be on supporting youth education and sustainable development across Malaysia and the wider Asia-Pacific region, which is home to more than half the Scout Movement’s membership. The event concluded with a ceremonial signing, and the exchange of gifts.
