Are you an active Scout passionate about global initiatives, interested in creating social impact, and willing to use your voice to represent youth and Scouting in Interamerica? If so, you're in the right spot! 

 

This is an incredible opportunity to represent the voice of our 2 million members on educational and youth-related issues. Our goal is to be involved in decision-making processes and to ensure that Scouting’s profile is strengthened and accurately portrays our mission and values.

We are assembling a group of 6 Scouts who will undergo capacity-building training in External Relations. These selected individuals will join our External Representatives pool and are expected to commit a minimum of 3 years to serve in this capacity. They will represent the organization at various regional events, such as: 

  • UN events 
  • Decision Making Spaces / Youth Forums 
  • International Conferences 
  • Meetings with strategic partners  

Additionally, they will participate in conferences, forums, and meetings with strategic partners. 


Primary Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Advocacy: Deliver advocacy efforts of the Interamerican Scout Region, engaging with relevant external stakeholders to positively influence decision-making processes in our Region. 
  • Communication: Maintain active contact with key external stakeholders as agreed with the Interamerican Scout Committee, and report back on these communications. 
  • Representation: Contribute to positioning World Scouting, and particularly the Interamerican Scout Region, as the world’s leading educational youth movement. 

 

Youth Rep

We are looking for: 

Youth Representatives (6 Scouts): 

To succeed in this role, the representatives should meet the following criteria: 

  • Age: Be between 18 and 26 years old at the time of appointment. 
  • Languages: Fluent in at least one of the Interamerican Scout Region's official languages, with the ability to communicate in the second one. 
  • Connectivity: Have access to a strong internet connection. 
  • Commitment: Be able to commit to the role for the entire term and be available, sometimes at short notice, to participate in international events (both in-person and virtually), including pre-event training and post-event evaluation. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in international or national summits/conferences
  • Experience in international or national decision-making spaces ( Youth Forums) 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication abilities. 
  • Public speaking and negotiation skills. 
  • Experience as a spokesperson or representative of their NSO or another NGO. 
  • Experience in areas related to youth policies, non-formal education, environmental issues, peacebuilding, advocacy work, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 
     

    A Selection Committee will be established to evaluate each of the applicants with the following criteria:


    1. Content of the answers to the specified questions - 50% 
    2. Presentation of the video - 40% 
    3. Creativity - 10%
