Myanmar Scouts focus on Youth Programme development

Just right after National Strategic Planning Workshop, Myannmar Scouts is now holding a Workshop on Youth Program Development still in Yangon, from 31 January to 5 February 2016.

At the opening ceremony, Mayor of Yangon region government, U Hla Myint highlighted the history of Scouting in his country which started in 1916. In 1921, Lord Baden Powell came to Myanmar and encouraged the activities of Myanmar Scouts, which at that time gaining support from the government.

In December 2012, the Educational Minister restarted Myanmar Scouts in 20 schools which has grown significantly over the years and it is now established in 655 schools. The mayor cited the workshop as the most important for Myanmar Scouts.

Adding fun to the workshop, young boys from Myanmar Scouts and young girls from the Girl Guides performed ‘The Messengers of Peace’ dance.

The workshop has 48 participants from different regions and states of Myamar.
