ScoutAid to Nepal: Appeal for urgent donations and support

Within 24 hours of its launch, World Scouting’s #ScoutAid for #Nepal fund has received individual donations amounting to some US$28,000. The Messengers of Peace Support Fund will issue an emergency grant of US$10,000 as add-on to the collection. Funds from other sources continue to flow in. All these donations will be channeled for relief and rehabilitation efforts in Nepal that are being coordinated by the Nepal Scouts.
Over the last four days since the 7.9-magnitude earthquake hit Nepal, Scouts from Nepal and other countries who have flown in, have been helping with the relief and rehabilitation work including building temporary shelters, administering first aid and clearing debris on the streets.
“The people believe Scouts are trustworthy so they have also allowed us to help them to move out valuable items from their damaged homes,” said Shrijan Amatya, a Rover Scout from Nepal.
“There is a critical shortage of basic food and medical supplies. The people also need temporary shelters as many have lost their homes while others are afraid to go back. People are getting sick from camping on the streets; children and pregnant women face the highest risk,” he said.
Our brothers and sisters in Nepal need us. They are not alone; we are in this together. Donate now to the efforts of Scouts in Nepal for the people of Nepal.
