Following a long-time partnership, this year the World Organization of the Scout Movement and Earth Hour joined forces to promote and advocate a more sustainable planet. Andy Ridley, the CEO and Co-Founder of Earth Hour, who is also a former Scout, acknowledged the great work Scouts have been doing and the importance of the movement to inspire others at grassroots level, saying, “Scouts are Super Heroes”.
Thus, this year, the Scouts were challenged not only to support the Earth Hour’s initiatives worldwide but also to inspire others by sharing their stories.

Daryl Alfred Tadique, an active Scout from the Boys Scouts of Philippines, was recognized as a Scout for the Planet for his inspiring and commendable work as an advocate for environmental sustainability. This Earth Hour Everyday Hero, who is currently a Youth volunteer at the United Nations Millennium Campaign in the Philippines and also a Scout Leader in the local council in the Philippines, has actively participated in multiple activities and programs which further this goal.

His story is now featured on the Earth Hour website, inspiring millions of other people to become increasingly accountable and environmentally sustainable citizens with a pro-active attitude towards a better planet.
