Brownsea New Centenary Camp will promote adventure and diversity in Scouting

Starting on Brownsea on 1st August, the New Centenary Camp is a unique opportunity for Scouts aged 13-18 from around the world. It brings together young people from many different backgrounds for 72 hours of Adventure, Scouting, and Community.

One hundred years ago, Baden-Powell brought 20 boys from very different backgrounds to Brownsea Island for the first experimental Scout camp. They camped together for a week's adventure and were a catalyst for today's 28 million Scouts worldwide.

The Brownsea New Centenary Camp aims to recapture the spirit and vision of that original camp by bringing together 250 Scouts from a wide variety of different faiths, cultures and backgrounds for non-stop challenges, fun and new friends.

With adventures such as canoe safaris and coracle-building, Scouting activities from the replica camp to global development projects, and a life shared with Scouts from diverse communities, the New Centenary Camp will be a very special camp for the participants.

And by building bridges between different cultures, it hopes to be a catalyst to inspire future generations of Scouts to work for peace.
