Thailand holds 2nd International Youth Forum

To provide opportunity for young people to get more involved in decisions making and to interact with other Scouts from overseas, the National Scout Organization of Thailand (NSOT) organized the 2nd Thailand International Scout Youth Forum 2009 at the Phuket Scout Camp, Phuket Thailand from 10th – 15th June 2009.

The event gathered 51 young people, including three overseas participants, one from Korea and two from Singapore.

During the opening ceremony, International Commissioner Mr Sutham Phanthusak was the guest of honor and speaker. Other guests include NSOT Executive Board members and commissioners. Mr Setthaphan Buddhani, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand – Phuket Office was the guest of honor at the closing ceremony.

At the concluding part of the event, some of the recommendations made by the participants to NSOT are: to train teachers who are handling Scouting in schools on the fundamental principles of Scouting; to further develop the Scout programme suitable to the needs of the changing times of Scouting in Thailand and to promote awareness among the community on the importance of Scouting.

The regional office supported the event by the presence of Ms Arjay, in assisting the secretariat of the Forum together with the NSOT Rovers.
