Celebrating the start of the Scouting adventure

109 years ago today, B-P brought together 20 boys for the first-ever Scout camp on Brownsea Island. Despite coming from different social backgrounds, the boys had an edifying and exhilarating time, learning vital practical skills using techniques drawn from B-P’s experience in the army. Following the success of this revolutionary approach, the Scout Movement eventually evolved into the world’s leading youth organisations.

In certain Scout regions, 1 August is known as Scout Scarf Day. It is a day when Scouts reaffirm their Scout Promise and proudly wear their Scout scarfs/neckerchiefs in public. Other Scouts choose to remember this day by organising Sunrise Camps. How about you? How are you celebrating this day?
