100 Years of Cubs in New Zealand

2 minutes

To celebrate 100 years of Cubs, Scouts New Zealand provided a challenge for Cubs throughout the country to hold campfires.

The Mahurangi Zone (Auckland) Cub Leaders decided to hold a Zone Campfire and the Cubs were to make and wear a Campfire scarf, on 21 May 2016 at a Council Reserve, in Albany, Auckland.

The site was perfect for the campfire, away from streetlights and road noise, but close enough to the motorway so that Cubs, leaders and their families could travel to the reserve.

Although the weather was not good due to rain, but the Cubs braved it and turned up for the Campfire. At around 6:30 in the evening, the rain stopped and everybody stayed dry for the whole night.

Approximately, 300 Cubs, leaders, family and friends joined the Campfire which was filled with rowdy songs and yells that Cubs loved.
