The European Scout Committee returns from its Spring Meeting in Zagreb, Croatia

For its second regular meeting in the 2013-2016 triennium the European Scout Committee travelled to Zagreb (Croatia) on the first weekend of March 2014.

Apart from discussing regular matters, the Committee used this opportunity to meet with members of the National Board of Savez izviđača Hrvatske (SIH, the National Scout Organisation in Croatia) as well as with local and national authorities.

In the picture you can see H. E. Ivo Josipović, Predsjednik Hrvatske, receiving the European Scout Committee in corpore and members of the World Scout Committee, the Eurasia Scout Committee, the European Scout Office and the National Board of Savez izviđača Hrvatske at the president's official residence on 8 March 2014.

As a matter of routine, the agenda of the Committee's meeting included a series of reports from Committee members, the Office, the Treasurer, the Chairman of the European Scout Foundation and updates on projects run in the framework of Global Support and the Partnership Fund.

The Committee welcomed João A. Gonçalves (World Scout Committee) and Vemund Ovesen (Youth Adviser to the World Scout Committee) who shared most recent developments from the world level and its different working groups and task forces. They also informed about the planning progress of the World Scout Youth Forum and the World Scout Conference, which will take place this coming August in Slovenia. Also present was Irina Pruïdze, Chairperson of the Eurasia Scout Committee.

The Committee received initial reports from the Region's two Priority Project Groups (Diversity & Inclusion and Youth Empowerment) and the three Core Groups (Educational Methods, Organisational Development and External Relations & Funding), which had been set up earlier in the year to help achieve the objectives identified in the Regional Scout Plan 2013-2016.

The reporting part was concluded by receiving updates about the Kandersteg International Scout Centre (KISC), feedback from the most recent meeting with the trust managers of the Fund for European Scouting (FES) in New York, and a review of the Region’s partnership with the Europe Region WAGGGS.
