APR Conference re-elects Chairman Binay, elects new members

29 October 2009, Kuala Lumpur - Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Committee Chairman Jejomar C. Binay was re-elected in his position at the 23rd APR Scout Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Also at the election, Dr. Mohammed Mukhyuddin (Malaysia) and Prakorb Mukura (Thailand) were announced as the Vice-Chairmen and five new members were elected to a six-year term from 2009 to 2015. They were Azrul Azwar (Indonesia), Chao Shou Po (Scouts of China), Sang Ho Shim (Korea), Shree Ram Lamichhanne (Nepal) and Nicholas Tang (Singapore).

Continuing their mandate in the Regional Scout Committee for the remaining three years are Syed Pervez Ali Shah Jillani (Pakistan) and M Fazlur Rahman (Bangladesh).

Committee members who are completing their term at the conference are Mohammed Ali Khalid (India), Tan Cheng Kiong (Singapore), John Ravenhall (Australia), Dr. Yung Chaur-Shin (Scouts of China), Oh Sang Gyoon (Republic of Korea) and Manabu Hiratsuka (Young Adult Members Group).

The Committee's guidance has made the Scouting more active in the region through its strategies and policies that will make high quality Scouting in the region widely implemented across the region.
