Statement on Scouting Ireland’s Response to the Findings of Mr. Elliott’s Report

World Scouting acknowledges and supports the safeguarding measures that Scouting Ireland has put in place to ensure that young people are able to experience the Youth Programme in a safe and inclusive environment.

Scouting Ireland has taken an important step forward by accepting the full findings of Mr. Ian Elliott’s Learning Review and issuing a public apology on behalf of the organisation to the victims and survivors of abuse. 

Scouting Ireland’s focus on implementing the highest standards of governance and safeguarding demonstrates a strong commitment to make the safety of children and youth a top priority in all Scouting-related activities.

World Scouting remains committed to providing ongoing support to all Member Organizations through good times and challenging times in important areas, including good governance and Safe from Harm.
