Ghanaian Scouts Help Marginalized Communities Fight COVID-19
The Brong Ahafo Regional Scout Council in Ghana has rolled out a four-months project to help rural communities fight against COVID-19. The project emphasises on proper handwashing practices, the need to observe social distancing as well as making donations of items to support handwashing. For two weeks, Scouts implemented a handwashing campaign in the districts of Kintampo, Sunyani and Buoyem teaching rural folks about the right ways of handwashing and COVID-19 prevention.
Further away, the Ashanti Regional Scout Council in collaboration with Eco Warriors, International Model Diplomats for Integrated Development and Future Smart Stars on 13th April 2020 provided meals and water to vulnerable and needy families during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. Led by the Regional Commissioner, Ben Akasui, 150 Scouts were mobilised to distribute food and water to vulnerable and needy families, putting a smile on their faces. The food distribution was sponsored by KFC Ghana and VBO. The Scouts also expressed their solidarity and reminded people to continue to observe the precautionary measures to help fight COVID-19.
