Burundi Scouts Association Undertakes Review of its Youth Programme

3 minutes

Burundi Scouts Association has embarked on a process to review its Youth Programme that was developed in 2002. Fresh from the Regional Youth Programme Developers workshop held in Nairobi in September 2018, the Programme Commissioner in close collaboration with the World Scout Bureau Africa Support Centre (WSB Africa) mobilized a team from the NSO’s Programme Department together with other experts in programme development to begin this exercise.

The team aims to reassess the needs and challenges facing young people in Burundi and come up with thematic areas to be included in the programme. They will also align these to the Burundi National Development Agenda, in which the Scouts were contributors to its framing. The team is also keen to integrate the Sustainable Development Goals and the programmes offered by World Scouting under the Better World Framework into the youth programme.

The whole project is expected to be complete within the next 6 to 12 months with the dissemination of the revised Youth Programme to all levels of the NSO. It is expected that the new Youth Programme will enable the Scouts better contribute to the positive transformation of their communities and country.

The review process is being facilitated by the WSB Africa under the framework of WOSM Service Model.
