Ciudad Juarez, Mexico - May 25, 2010. It is with a great sense of loss and dismay that the World Organization of the Scout Movement receives the news of the murder of Pedro González (21) and Alejandro Ruiz (18), both distinguished Rover Scouts of the Mexican Scout Association. Pedro and Alejandro were driving back home this Sunday May 23 after offering a Scout service in a village near Ciudad Juarez when they were intercepted by an unscrupulous armed criminal commando who without any reason persecuted their vehicle and shot multiple times at it causing their death. The Mexican Scout Association will mount a Guard of Honor at Ciudad Juarez in their memory, and will conduct a series of activities to promote a culture of peace both within their members and Mexican society.
